We have covered basic knowledge regarding our 7 main chakras, how to heal the root chakra, sacral chakra and solar plexus chakra in the previous posts. In this article, let us talk about the signs of the imbalanced heart chakra and how to help heal and balance the heart chakra.
Balanced and well-aligned chakras will bring about holistic well-being, the harmony of body, mind, and spirit. This will make the biological energy in the body vibrate, circulate, and receive the endless source of cosmic energy. And the nature of bio-energy includes factors such as waves, pulses, colors, matter, and information, etc. Therefore, we are able to assist the healing of the imbalanced chakras by utilizing those factors in harmony with the corresponding chakras.
The Fourth Chakra – Heart Chakra:
The heart chakra governs the way we receive and give and express love. It affects our social relationships and interactions with others. In short, it manifests our social identity.
This chakra develops when we are between 4.5 and 6.5 years old. Around this time, children start to be more socialized and make friends. Who they are gonna play with will be determined by the first three chakras, root chakra, sacral chakra, and solar plexus chakra. If those chakras are already imbalanced making them often feel anxious, worried, guilty or ashamed, they will attract other children who have the same issues.
Grief is the emotion that affects the heart chakra. Where does grief come from? The sadness that persists from year to year, will become grief. We experience sadness because we lose touch with our authentic selves.
What can hurt Heart Chakra?
– All types of abuses – physical, emotional and mental – make us feel unloved. We give up on ourselves and suffer.
– Misconception about love: How do children learn about love? By seeing how adults love each other. Children are very good observers, they will see if the father loves the mother unconditionally? Does the mother accept the father completely or not? They observe their parents how they love each other and love their children. And this becomes the child’s inner voice.
Signs of Imbalanced Heart Chakra
* Weak or Blocked Heart Chakra:
– Can not feel the love.
– Fail to accept self and others, leading to lack of compassion, loneliness, isolation. Tend to judge and criticize others.
– Closed heart, find it hard to forgive.
– Fear of intimacy, so they don’t want to enter a relationship at all.
* Overactive Heart Chakra:
– Codependent relationship: too attached and dependant on others.
– Giving too much of oneself but finding it hard to receive.
– Excessive jealousy
* Physical issues:
– circulatory and heart-related issues, blood pressure.
– respiratory problems.
– allergies, weight issues
==> Balanced Heart Chakra:
– Accept and love yourself unconditionally and therefore can accept and love others unconditionally. Feel peace from within.
– Can build and maintain healthy and nurturing relationships with others.
– Have compassion for self and others. Know that we all do the best we can at that moment, willing to support without judging, putting down, or feeling pity.
How to Heal and Balance Heart Chakra
What to do:
To balance the heart chakra, we must work on balancing the three lower chakras first to remove fear, guilt, and shame. Only then, we can create a good relationship with ourselves and thus can have good relationships with the people around us.
* Deep meditation. The higher chakra we work with, the more challenging it becomes. Therefore, we need to be able to reach the deep meditative state in order to be able to fully accept and love ourselves.
* Yoga: camel pose, locust pose, cobra pose, reclined bound angle pose.
* As green is the color of the fourth chakra, try to be in nature with trees and plants as much as you can.
* Practice forgiveness and empathy for yourself and the people around you.
* Practice gratitude even for the smallest thing in your life. Say “thank you” more to things and people around you.
* Try to balance giving and receiving love. Everyone is worthy of love, including you!
* Learn to re-connect with your intuition – your heart. Discern its voice from the voice of the ego, or the ”logical” mind. The voice from your heart is the voice of your true self.
* Accept your good as well as your bad. You are perfectly imperfect. We all are. With that, you can love yourself unconditionally and then be able to have extra love to share with others.
* Be in the service of others is the most effective way to express unconditional love and heal the heart chakra.
Food: opt for green foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, chard, leafy greens, green apple, green kiwifruit.
Positive Affirmations: speak out loud or in your mind several times every day, or write down on sticker notes and stick them around your home and/or work environment to remind yourself.
* I am love, loved, and loving.
* I am grateful for my ability to love.
* I am fully open to giving and receiving unconditional love.
* My heart is full of unconditional love for all beings.
* There is an infinite supply of love.
Chant: chant YAM to yourself slowly “yyyyyaaaaammmmm” while meditating or doing chores during the day.
Crystals: rose quartz, green aventurine, amazonite, clear quartz, jade, green calcite, malachite, and unite. Bring them with you, put them next to your bed or hold them in your hands while meditating.
Aroma: Ylang-ylang, rose, jasmine, vetiver, pine, and rosewood.
Music: 639Hz Solfeggio music, as well as 528Hz. Look for songs with positive vibes about love, either romantic love or love in general. Avoid love songs that have low vibrations (breaking up, cheating, toxic relationship, etc.)
Color: wear green or light pink clothes or accessories, have more green or light pink objects around the house.
Energy Healing: Reiki, Acupuncture, Quantum Healing, with the intention to heal and balance the heart chakra.

Thanks for your valuable input.
The heart chakra is the center of love, compassion, and forgiveness. It’s blocked or out of balance when we experience emotional pain such as anger, resentment, bitterness, or grief.
The main obstacles to healing the heart chakra are fear and self-judgment. We’re afraid to forgive ourselves for our mistakes, and we judge ourselves harshly for not being “perfect”. To heal the heart chakra, we need to learn to accept ourselves just as we are, flaws and all.
We also need to learn how to let go of our grudges and resentments. Forgiveness is one of the most powerful tools for healing the heart chakra.
Thanks Bob for your insightful comment! Forgiveness is not for others but in fact for ourselves!
What a great resource. There are definitely times when people fall victim to negative forces in life, and a hurt heart chakra will definitely show signs of imbalance. I hadn’t thought about what things might be causing the issues or how to get the heart chakra back into balance. I find that many of your suggestions for healing treatments are practical and simple, and I am sure they are helpful as well. Thank you for sharing. <3
